Limpopo-based Xitsonga event organizer, Gagash, recently took to Facebook to share his frustrations about booking artists. Gagash claims he is being mistreated by some artists, stating, “I don’t pay a deposit when I book an artist. Once we agree, I give you the full amount.”
Gagash explained that he often books artists from Limpopo at full cost, only to find them taking lower-priced gigs in Gauteng. This situation compromises attendance at his events, as people opt for the closer, more affordable option.
“If someone in Tembisa plan to sees you at 17 and you secure a gig in Tembisa, they will drop their journey to my event and attend the one which is close to them,” he added.
He also highlighted another issue, stating, “Our artists charge me more money when I book them than all other event organizers. When they arrive, they demand additional requirements that we hadn’t agreed on.”
Gagash’s post has sparked discussions about fairness and the challenges faced by event organizers in the Xitsonga music industry.
