LIMPOPO – In the last two days, three men have been declared dead and the preliminary investigation has showed that they might be killed by people, especially mob justice.
On Monday 07 February 2022, two murder cases have been reported to the law enforcement, this comes after two men have been brutally assaulted to death.
The Police spokesperson in the province Brigadier Motlafela Mojaprlo said they have discovered a lifeless body of an unknown man in Masssha Spookpkak in the morning.
“ Detectives were notified about the discovery of the body of an unknown man in this locality. Upon arrival at the scene, they found the deceased with multiple injuries. Preliminary investigations showed that he might have been killed somewhere and dumped in this neighborhood,” stated law enforcement spokesperson Mojapelo.
“Later on the same day at about 12:00 midday in Kwena Moloto phase 3, a group of people reportedly attacked and assaulted two men who escaped and jumped into the trailer of one of the resident’s vehicle in an attempt to seek help,” stated Mojapelo.
It alleged that the victim got help from patrol police. One victim was certified dead, and the other was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
In the other incident, they assaulted a 20 years old man to death in Moletjie Ga- Makgokgwane, the incident happened on Tuesday 08 February.
They accused the 20 years old victim of stealing a TV set and selling it to someone.
“The victim was reportedly assaulted with sjambokkes and stones while being forced to take them to the person whom he sold the TV set,” said Mojapelo.
Mojapelo continues to say after they failed to recover the property, they reportedly continued to assault him, and thereafter, he fled the scene.
The man was certified dead when law enforcement and paramedics found him.
Provincial Commissioner Thembi Hadebe has strongly warned community members to refrain from taking the law into their hands and to instead cooperate with the law enforcement in the fight against crime.
“ Residents must report crime and bring the evidence to the law enforcement so that justice could be served. These were barbaric and horrendous acts that undermine the rule of law, and suspects should be hunted down and brought to book, “Concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
No one has been arrested in connection with these incidents.
