Security Officer Injured in Shootout During Robbery at Shoprite

MPUMALANGA – In an alarming incident on Wednesday, January 3rd, a security officer was seriously injured during a robbery at Shoprite in Thulamahashe, Mpumalanga.

Around 6:30 PM, a group of approximately 10 armed suspects stormed into the store, brandishing firearms and threatening the staff.

Promptly responding to the robbery, security officers engaged the robbers, resulting in a fierce shootout between them. Tragically, one security officer sustained a gunshot wound during the confrontation and was swiftly rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Despite the valiant efforts of the security team, the armed assailants successfully fled the scene, absconding with an undisclosed sum of money from the store’s premises.
