Polokwane – A recount is underway for three voting districts in Limpopo after the number of ballots cast at a voting station at Mitchell House school in Polokwane did not match the number of registered voters.
This issue was disclosed by members of the Party Liaison Committee (PLC) in Limpopo after a meeting with officials from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to discuss the objections and the commission’s plan to address them.
The PLC members were assured that the objection process remains open until Friday at 9 pm. Objections should be emailed to the IEC’s chief electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo.
Desiree van der Walt, the Democratic Alliance representative in the PLC, stated that they are confident the issue can be resolved.
Makoma Makhurupetje, the ANC representative, expressed confidence that most objections raised, mainly concerning long queues on voting day, are minimal and will be resolved.
