Malamulele – Police are on the hunt for suspects involved in a brutal carjacking and attempted murder incident that took place on the night of June 6, 2024, at Jerome Village. The attack occurred around 9 PM, leaving a 63-year-old man injured.
According to Police Spokesperson Colonel Ledwaba Malesela, the victim was with his friend in a parked grey Toyota Hilux Double Cab when three armed suspects approached them.
“The attackers forced the men out of the vehicle at gunpoint. During the ordeal, one of the suspects hit the victim with the butt of a firearm and shot him multiple times in the leg,” said Colonel Ledwaba Malesela.
“The suspects then searched the victim, taking his cellphones and money, before driving off in his vehicle. Police and Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene, and the injured man was taken to the hospital,” added Colonel Malesela.
Police have opened a case of carjacking and attempted murder.
The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Mukhomi village. Police investigations are ongoing, and a manhunt for the suspects is in full swing.
