Today, the Mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality, Maluleke S.G, delivered a comprehensive State of the Municipality Address at the Malamulele Community Hall. The mayor outlined a significant investment in capital assets for the upcoming financial years from 2024 to 2027.
The infrastructure plan includes extensive road construction and rehabilitation projects. Notable projects are the construction of a 2.5 km ring road in Misevhe A, B, C, and D, funded partly by the municipality’s own funds and the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG), with a combined budget of R15.5 million for 2024/25.
Additional roadworks include the Gidjana and Muchipisi ring roads, each allocated R8 million for 2024/25, increasing to R10 million in the following years.
The plan also addresses critical intersections and internal street rehabilitation, such as the Tiyani Mall intersection and Malamulele internal streets, with significant investments in 2025/26 and 2026/27.
Beyond roadworks, the municipality will enhance community facilities. The Malamulele Stadium will see an extension of its pavilion, with a substantial R20 million budgeted for 2026/27.
Various access roads across the municipality, such as Botsoleni and Masia Headkraal, will be constructed with MIG funding.
Mayor Maluleke highlighted the construction of a smart sports center, ablution facilities in nodal areas, and new office buildings to improve administrative services. The plan also includes solid waste management projects, such as the Xigalo landfill site and the provision of refuse bins.
Additionally, there are projects aimed at enhancing electrical infrastructure, including the installation of solar street lights and the electrification of 419 households in Vyeboom, Nkovani, and Ximixoni.
Overall, the address underscored a significant commitment to infrastructure development, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents across the municipality.
The ambitious plan reflects a strategic investment in community growth and sustainability over the next three years.
