In a recent gathering held at Maphophe village, Mayor Shandrack Maluleke of Collins Chabane Local Municipality addressed the concerns of residents and shared plans for future development in the area. One of the topics discussed was the construction of market structures in Saselamani, similar to those found in other townships within the municipality. Unfortunately, the project faced a setback due to a lack of available space.
Mayor Maluleke assured the community that he would engage with local leaders to find a suitable location for the markets. He emphasized the importance of having designated market areas to maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the community. “The municipality is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure to support local businesses and promote economic growth.”
Mayor Maluleke also said that “the community leaders have already allocated a space for the construction of a proper township.” The other development includes the building of ring roads, with ongoing projects in Botsoleni village and Josefa.
“The municipality aims to include other villages in the next financial year, ensuring improved accessibility and connectivity for all residents,” said Mayor Maluleke.
Addressing the issue of water supply, Mayor Maluleke stated that, “efforts are underway to enhance the water system in Saselamani and Xikundu. Once completed, residents can expect a reliable and consistent water supply”.
“Additionally, the municipality is working towards providing electricity to the extended community residents in Saselamani”, Mayor Maluleke proudly stated that none of the old residents are without electricity under the Collins Chabane Municipality.
The mayor’s commitment to addressing community concerns and driving development in Collins Chabane Municipality is evident. With plans for market structures, improved road infrastructure, and enhanced utilities, the municipality is dedicated to creating a thriving and prosperous community.
