Police in Letsitele, Mopani District, have initiated a large scale manhunt for suspects involved in a horrific incident. On Saturday, 15 June 2024, at approximately 07:30, an unidentified person was found burned to death in a car at the Constantia Mphagani Bridge.
According to the Department of Police in Limpopo Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, stated that “Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene to find a sedan vehicle engulfed in flames with a single occupant inside the driver’s seat.”
“Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were promptly called to the scene. Despite the firefighters’ efforts to extinguish the blaze, the vehicle and the occupant inside were already burned beyond recognition,” said Colonel Ledwaba Malesela.
EMS personnel confirmed the death of the victim on the scene, but the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
The motive behind this incident is currently under investigation by the police, who have opened a case of murder.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has instructed the investigative team to conduct a thorough probe to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba has confirmed that investigations are ongoing. The police are urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.
