A man accused of setting his ex-girlfriend’s family house on fire has explained his side of the story. Trust Nyathi from Tsakane admitted to starting the fire that destroyed the house and a car, this is according to Mapulaneng News.
Nyathi said it all began when he met Sheila Rachel Mashile twelve years ago. He supported her and her child, even though they didn’t have a child together.
” i was the one working and caring for them, but things changed when he lost his job,” said Nyathi Trust who touched her ex girlfriend house including a car in a garage.
“After losing my job, i returned home to find out rented room empty, and Sheila was gone. She wouldn’t answer my calls, and her new boyfriend told me to leave her alone,” said Nyathi.
Nyathi had to find a new place to stay with neighbors and later moved to his brother’s house in Witbank. “I’m not proud of what i did, but anger and a desire for revenge drove me to set fire to Sheila’s bedroom, which unfortunately spread to the garage, destroying a VW Polo,” he added.
He hopes to fix the house once he receives his Unemployment Insurance fund (UIF), but he can’t afford to replace the car.
He believes Sheila used some muti on him and that’s why he couldn’t move on from her, even though they were no longer together.
