Ponani Makhubele, a former member of the 6th Parliament, has sent her congratulations to President Ramaphosa and the ANC on the successful convening of the 7th Democratic Parliament.
She praised the ANC’s leadership for establishing a Government of National Unity, which she believes will drive progress for South Africans.
Makhubele reflected on her own journey, expressing gratitude for the opportunities provided by the ANC. Serving in various capacities, including as the Chairperson of the Greater Giyani Municipality’s public accounts and as a member of the Khensani Hospital Board, she gained valuable governance experience.
Highlighting her roots as a black child, single parent, and orphan, she praised the ANC for enabling her to access opportunities previously reserved for a select few.
Makhubele pledged to continue supporting the ANC and engaging young people as the party heads towards local government elections.
She also expressed appreciation for the branches that nominated her during the 2023 nomination process and thanked Panyaza Lusufi for the opportunity to work in his office as a Parliamentary Liaison Officer.
Despite recent challenges, Makhubele said she remains committed to the ANC and urged returning parliamentarians to stay true to the party’s principles.
She concluded with a promise to continue shining wherever her future takes her, crediting the ANC for shaping her into a confident and capable leader.
