Residents of Madobi, Vyeboom, Mukhomi, Gandlanani, Madonsi, and Nkuzana villages in Collins Chabane Local Municipality received a heartwarming surprise this season, thanks to the generosity of Mayor Shadrack Maluleke and partners Masingita Crossing and Mangalani Centre.
The initiative aimed to bring joy to selected families, schools, and drop-in centers through donations of essential items.
Mayor Maluleke, alongside municipal leaders, orchestrated the donation drive as a proactive step to improve the lives of vulnerable community members. The efforts included significant contributions such as wheelchairs, food parcels, and school supplies to those in need.
Key highlights of the initiative included:
- Empowering Individuals: Kwetsimani Vukeya of Vyeboom received a wheelchair and essential food items.
- Educational Support: Madobi Primary School and Hasani Lawrence Primary School each received five desktop computers to enhance learning environments.
- Community Enhancements: The Hlanganani Day Care Centre and Madonsi Drop-in Centre were freshly painted, revitalizing community spaces.
- Individual Assistance: Basani Munyai from Gandlanani village benefited from a wheelchair, food supplies, and a new toilet, enhancing daily living conditions.
Reflecting on the initiative, Mayor Maluleke emphasized, “We are committed to transforming lives through the provision of basic necessities, especially for the elderly, child-headed households, and disabled individuals.”
Additionally, as part of the Mandela Day commemoration, selected learners received new school shoes, with additional contributions from Speaker Cllr Thina Mbedzi and Masingita Crossing sponsoring school uniforms.
The event not only celebrated Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy but also served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to create positive change in society.
