Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has acknowledged that the province’s economy is struggling but assured that efforts are underway to improve the situation.
Speaking at the 7th Legislature debate in Lebowakgomo, Ramathuba announced several initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth and job creation.
Premier Ramathuba has tasked Limpopo Economic Development, Environment, and Tourism MEC Tshitekere Matibe with accelerating the revitalization of the Musina-Makhado and Fetakgomo Tubatse Special Economic Zones.
These zones are expected to stimulate economic activity and create jobs.
In addition, the Premier mentioned that MEC for Agriculture, Nakedi Kekana, will soon present a report on the revitalization of the Lebowakgomo Chicken Abattoir.
To support job creation, the government has engaged with leaders in the mining industry to discuss processing raw materials within the province.
Ramathuba also refuted claims that the provincial government is neglecting commercial farmers, citing a recent meeting with farmers in the Waterberg district to address their challenges and needs.
