Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokoena expressed his frustration after his team’s 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. Despite controlling much of the game, Sundowns were unable to secure the victory.
“I don’t know how we lost this match, honestly I don’t know. I don’t want to use injuries as an excuse because we should’ve won the game… only one team on the pitch,” said Mokoena, clearly disappointed by the outcome.
The game saw Sundowns dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities, but they failed to convert their chances into goals. Orlando Pirates, on the other hand, made the most of their opportunities, scoring twice to secure the win.
Mokoena acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football, adding, “But anyway, it’s football, isn’t it.” His words reflect the frustration and unpredictability that often accompanies the sport.
The loss is a tough pill to swallow for Sundowns, who were favorites going into the match.
