The Greater Giyani Local Municipality is working with the Limpopo Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs to secure funds for a road project.
This follows a protest by residents of Risinga village on Monday. The residents blocked the entry points to the town by burning tires and placing rocks on the road, demanding better roads.
According to the municipality’s spokesperson, Steven Mavunda, the same community had earlier raised concerns about the poor condition of the road between Makoxa and Benstore.
As of today, there are no signs of further protests, and all the main entry points to Giyani town that were closed on Monday have been reopened.
