In a recent police operation at Mageva scrap yard, five employees were arrested after the police detained a suspect accused of stealing copper cables. The theft led to power outages in several areas of Giyani.
According to GiyaniViews Publication, these employees are suspected of working with criminals who have been vandalizing Eskom’s electricity infrastructure around Giyani.
The detained suspect reportedly told authorities that he sold the stolen copper cables to the Mageva scrap yard.
The investigation continues as police look into the employees’ involvement and possible connections to other incidents of cable theft in the region.
