Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC, Violet Mathye, has confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of a tragic accident that killed five people on the N1 near Ysterburg in Mokopane last night.
According to spokesperson Tshifhiwa Dali, initial reports suggest that the driver of a sedan lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned. The accident claimed the lives of the driver and four immediate family members at the scene.
MEC Mathye has expressed her condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. She also reminded all road users to prioritize safety, especially with the upcoming festive season when traffic volumes increase significantly.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident to establish the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the accident.
