Floyd Shivambu, the former Deputy President of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has resigned from all his positions within the party. This move follows the expiration of his EFF membership earlier this week.
During a press conference, Shivambu announced his decision to join the MK Party, led by former South African President Jacob Zuma. This decision has sparked a reaction from various political figures, including the African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula.
Mbalula expressed his doubts about Shivambu’s future in the MK Party. He said, “Please pray for former EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu. I don’t believe he will last a year in Jacob Zuma’s MK Party.”
Mbalula also addressed rumors about Shivambu potentially joining the ANC. “I heard Floyd Shivambu say he won’t come to the ANC because I don’t want him. I don’t know Floyd; I only know him through Julius Malema’s introductions,” he stated.
Shivambu’s departure from the EFF and his new political alignment have raised questions about the future of both his political career and the dynamics within South Africa’s political landscape.
