Louis Trichardt – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo have voiced their shock and concern over the alarming conditions at the Department of Home Affairs in Louis Trichardt.
They say, Since June 2022, the facility has grappled with a severe sanitation crisis, leaving toilets non-functional.
According to the EFF’s provincial chairperson, Tshilidzi Maraga, the situation has pushed staff and security personnel to collect water in buckets from the nearby traffic department.
“This dire state has left the elderly and disabled without proper facilities, creating an extremely uncomfortable environment for those seeking assistance at the offices,” said EFF’s provincial chairperson, Tshilidzi Maraga.
Maraga highlighted that individuals needing restrooms are forced to leave the queue, walking about 1.7 kilometers to other facilities, often compelled to pay for their use.
“The EFF strongly condemns this situation, asserting that it is unacceptable for citizens, especially vulnerable groups, to endure such inhumane conditions while seeking essential government services,” said Maraga.
EFF urge the Department of Home Affairs to swiftly provide effective solutions to restore proper and sanitary facilities at the Louis Trichardt facility.
Maraga emphasized the party’s commitment to closely monitoring developments on this matter and ensuring accountability for those responsible.
