Collins Chabane Local Municipality has issued a warning to residents about a scam involving the sale of a housing stand in Malamulele section B2.
According to the Municipality the scammer is selling the stand for R42,000 using false title deeds that bear the municipality’s logo.
“The municipality has discovered that a fake advertisement is circulating, claiming to offer the stand with legitimate title deeds,” stated Municipality.
“The scammer arranges meetings with potential buyers, showing them a stand that actually belongs to someone else,” added.
“One major red flag is that the title deeds being shown are dated 30th June 2016, but Collins Chabane Local Municipality was only established on the 3rd of August 2016. This discrepancy clearly indicates that the documents are fake,” also added.
The municipality urges all residents to be vigilant and not to fall for this scam. They advise people to always verify any property-related deals with the municipality’s relevant departments before making any payments.
This warning comes as part of the municipality’s efforts to protect its residents from falling victim to such fraudulent activities.
